A Smart Tool for Property Owners in Whatcom County (Especially Canadians)

If you own property in Whatcom County — or you’re thinking about buying here — there’s a simple free tool you should know about.

It’s called the Property Recording Alert Service (PRAS), and it’s offered by the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office. Link

Once you sign up, the system will send you an email alert anytime a document is recorded under your name or your property’s parcel number.

That means if something like a deed, lien, or other document is filed that references your property, you’ll know right away.

Why does this matter?

Because property records are public documents. While fraud is rare, this service gives property owners an early warning system if anything unexpected shows up on their title.
